A new beginning

The inspiration for our first chapter is the Baltic Sea – the youngest sea on earth, and one of the calmest: not even half a kilometre deep, with only one connection to the oceans, and almost hidden tides.

The Island of Rügen

Coastmetics began on the island of Rügen: chalk cliffs above the waves, an ever-changing scenery of light, water, and the sky, attracting painters and poets over centuries with its exceptional environment.

This landscape not only was the inspiration for our first chapter. It was the beginning of Coastmetics as a brand.

Here, the first idea was vorn: to translate the feeling of a coast into rituals for skin and soul.

Sea Buckthorn

Along the Baltic coast, sea buckthorn is more than a botanical ingredient.

It belongs to the landscape: amber berries glowing between silvery leaves, rooted in the dunes and formed by salty wind. A plant deeply connected to this region – resilient, generous and full of unique elegance.

For many, sea buckthorn carries the memory of the Baltic Sea: late summer harvest by the coast, vitamin rich fruits, like tiny suns, carrying the warmth of something gathered close to nature, along the Baltic coast.

For Coastmetics, sea buckthorn is the essence of the Baltic Sea, at the heart of our first chapter. A golden thread running through THE TIDES, THE SWELL and THE GLEAM – connecting skin, senses and place.

    Inspired by the subtle movement of ebb and flow, almost invisible at the Baltic Sea, yet always present. THE TIDES begins the ritual with a gentle cleanse and changing textures, bringing clarity, calm and renewal.

Baltic Sea Collection

Our first collection is inspired by the Baltic Sea, the coast where Coastmetics was born.
