From beach to brand

Coastmetics began with a feeling.

The calm of the coast, the softness of skin after swimming in salt water, the quiet clarity that stays after time spent by the sea.

Coastmetics was created to translate the essence of a coast into sensory rituals for skin, body and home.

On a terrace by the beach the first idea was born.

Where it began

The idea for Coastmetics began on the island of Rügen, at the Baltic Sea.

In 2023, after a day spent by the coast, our founder, Julia, felt something shift. Her skin felt renewed. But more than that, her whole system felt calmer, clearer, like coming back to herself.

A feeling she wanted to take home – not only as a memory, but as a wholesome ritual.

But what she found did not reflect the coast as she experienced it: products too clinical or generic, not rooted in the region or aesthetically pleasing. Nothing like the beauty, depth and heritage of the actual Baltic Sea.

So she began to build what she had been looking for: a brand that translates the feeling of the coast into care for every day, guided by one simple the vision – to bring home a moment of the coast, wherever you are.

    We believe in fewer, more meaningful products. Care should feel intuitive, not complicated. All our skincare products are suitable for face, hands, and body.

    All our products are designed to appeal to your senses, an invitation to feel: the softness of skin, the freshness of water, the warmth of your body, the calm of the coast.

    From the beginning, our care for humans as well as animals and nature is one of our core principles. All our skincare is vegan, cruelty-free, made in Europe, and certified.

Meet our founder

Coastmetics was founded by Julia Forchheim, born in Germany, currently based in the Netherlands and with deep love for the sea.

Before founding Coastmetics, Julia held positions in communications and PR across various companies and organisations, such as the marine conservation department of WWF Germany – always drawn to the connection between meaning, aesthetics and impact.

Her own connection to the sea became the starting point for Coastmetics: the place she returned to for clarity, softness and a sense of coming back to herself.

With Coastmetics, she is building a brand that brings this feeling into daily life, beginning with the Baltic Sea and expanding, chapter by chapter, to the world’s coasts.
